From Hanspeter to LIly
Dear Khun Lily,
Your obit on Joerg Maierhans on Monday, September 08. 08 at Christ Church Convent Road.
There are moments in life where steaks stop broiling, fishes stop poaching, soups stop simmering and breads stop breaking.
It was just yesterday where I had the opportunity to experience such an almost un-describable ones a lifetime minute.
When you takeover the rostrum to place your obit.
There she stands a woman in front of all the mourners showing courage and strength of will, what came up from the deepest of her heard, you found the right words and do not hide your tears and emotions. What you was saying found its ways under the skin of all the attendance and there and where one was seeing trying tears from her/his eyes.
Besides the hero you was talking about there was two more hero under the wooden roof of the church.
Namely Joergs mother who has to make her hardest trip a loving mother has to make and this around the half of the globe to attended the funeral of her own beloved son. I personally belief suffering this kind of pain, there is nothing on earth to compare with and only a loving mother will understand.
Then there were you,
A power display of true feelings, heard shaking emotions and world open minds which can only develop in a person which has bin guarding for hours and hours on the bedside of departing Joerg.
I don’t know what more to say but I am confident you know
Tank you and your Husband for all you have done for our friend Joerg it was the most and therefore the appreciation from all of us is un-list able.

HE WAS A FRIEND LIKE NO SECOND.
HE WAS A GENLEMEN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM ALL THE WAY
HE WAS A EXEPTIONAL AND MUCH SOUGHT AFTER PROFESSIONAL THAT EVERYBODY APPRECIATED FROM THE GUEST,THE MANAGEMENT, HIS HOTEL CO EMPLOYEES, BUT SPECIALLY HIS “KITCHEN BRIGADE” HE UNDERSTOOD TO LEAD PSYCHOLOGICALLY,PROFESSIONALLY, BUT SPECIALLY THE HUMANLY FACTOR LIKE NO OTHER.HIS INSPIRATIONAL GIFTED TALENT SHOWED HIS HIGH PROFESSIONAL SKILLS,THE HUMAN UNDERSTANDING BUT MOSTLY THE LOVE TO THE DETAIL. JORG WAS NOT THE ONE STANDING ON THE SIDE WHEN IT WAS ABOUT TO CHEERISH FRIENSHIP, OR TO HELP SOMEONE OUTSIDE IN NEED OR DOING A FAVOUR OF ANYKIND.
HE WAS VERY HARD AND THOUGH WITH HIMSELF, THERE WHERE NO LAPSES IN DISCIPLINE TO KEEP HIS BODY AND SOUL IN TOP SHAPE, AND THIS NOT TO IMPRESS OTHERS, BUT TO CONFRONT AND FACE HIS ALREADY IRON EGO, THAT WAS ONE REASON THAT MADE HIM SYMPATETIC.
HIS CHARACTER SHAPED WITH THOUGHTS AND CONSIDERATION, COOL BUT ANYTIME SPARKLING HUMOR WILL BE IN OUR MEMORIES FOREVER.
JORG WAS ONE GOING TROUGH THE WORLD WITH OPEN EYES,AND ALSO DID NOT CLOSE THEM WHEN THE SITUATION BECOME UNFAVOURABLE.

Lil's Obituary at Jorg's Memorial Service
SEPTEMBER 8th
AT CHRIST CHURCH, IN LOVING OF JORG?S MEMORIAL SERVICE
I am standing here today. before you, because we all have lost one of the greatest guys we?ve ever known.? I have known Jorg for only 5 years, but my family and I, were truly touched by him;? and I wished I could stretch out the time.? But unfortunately, I could not. On Jorg?s? 48 birthday, which had been held this year on August 10;? my family and I had given Jorg a card which was written, A mark on the stone rather than a written sand will be the monumentary of having you in our lives.? You are more than just a Chef, a Husband, a Son, a Father, a Man or just a Client?..? But you are our Hero.? A Hero because of your good heart and warmth that touched every of our souls that gathered today.? We love you and will always do.? Happy Birthday, Jorg!??
The last 58 days of his life, that he spent time fighting with cancer:? sometimes, he felt sick, felt so discomfort, weak and even pain.? But never once that he showed his anger, frustration or showed his bad mood.? He always showed us his smiling face and he even entertained all the visitors, who visited him at the hospital.? I remembered, just 2 days before he had passed away, one of his closed friend visited him.? On that day, he was so short of breath, he was tired and he was already under the morphine: he could hardly say much.? But once this good friend of his told him that he had to go to get back to work;? Jorg said, ?I am so sorry I am not a good company today.?? I just could not hold my tears.? He was so sweet, even when he could hardly breath for air, he still cared for others.? He was born truly a Hero of the Hospitality World.?
Although it hurt to see that our best friend passed away, and that we would never see him again:? somehow, we all were so relief truly to see that Jorg did not suffer so much at all.? He passed away in peace, surrounded by those he loved and cared so dearly:? which were his wife and his three wonderful children.? I was there as well at the time.?
Jorg has fought so hard to survive the cancer since the day he found he got it.? It was just too bad that we found it too late.? During these 58 days that he was in the hospital, his room was always full with visitors, with all his friends, his colleagues, ex-staffs, his beloved wife, K. Jieb, who took so good care of him:? and even his three children, who came to visit him.? It was Jorg would told everyone that he would be fine, and would go back to Phuket and started his work at Arahmas again soon.? He was a real fighter, with the guts to live as the head of his family; and to work in his profession that he loved passionately.? However, his body did lose the battle of cancer, but his heart did win!? Just the night before he was gone, he asked me to talk to him:? and I knew so well what he wanted to hear.? So, I did promise him that all of us, Jorg?s friends, will help to look after his wife and of his children and to take care of his last wishes.? I also told him that he was a real lucky guy and that one day if? it is my turn to die, I wish I could have what he did, for he had always been surrounded by all his beloved friends and family, who visited him often just to say hello, and to share the last goodbye.?
Only me alone, I could never have done anything to assist or to look after Jorg and his family now that he has gone. But if you all are with me and believe as I do how Jorg had been the hero who contributed many things in his life for us, and that he did touched our hearts one way or the another:? I do hope and beg every one of you, as to help taking care of the 4 persons whom Jorg has loved so dearly, and they are right here with us on the front roll: K. Jieb and his 3 wonderful kids, Alison, Andrew and Kevin.?\

Dearest friends and Colleagues of Jorg Meierhans,On the behalf of Jorg’s family and friends, we are so sorry to inform you that Jorg has passed away on September 1, 2008 at 12:00 pm. He has passed away in peace, surrounded by his family: his wife, his 3 children and of his wife’s sister and friends.
It has been truly a great loss for all of us, as his friends, his colleagues, as his relatives, his wife, and most of all for his three children. Jorg Meierhans was 48 years old and 24 days.
As to say the last goodbye to Jorg Meierhans, we would like to invite you join us at the Funeral Ceremony, in which will be held on
Monday, September 8, 2008.
The funeral ceremony’s schedules will be as follows:
09:30 hrs - The funeral rites at Christ Church, Convent Road (next to BNH hospital)
Reception after the ceremony at the church, with refreshment.
16:30 hrs - The cremation at Wat Kaewjamfa, Sipraya Road.

Latest Update
Dear friends,
I hope this e-mail finds you in good health and fine. It has been awhile that I did not update you of Jorg's condition. Jorg's condition is weaken day by day now: and he is being treated with only
morphine and liquid food, for he cannot eat anything anymore. The doctor needs to give him morphine to ease the pain that he has, or else, he would be suffered so much. No treatment of chemotheray is given further, as it failed to rescue Jorg from the sickness.
However, Jorg is still conscious in his mind, and he remembers everyone who comes to visit him. He just has difficulty to talk now, and he needs oxygen to help him breathing.
He is still at Bangkok Christian Hospital, room 722, 7th fl. of the new building. He has his three kids with him now, and Jorg's mom is coming on this Thursday from Switzerland to visit him.
The doctor informed us that it is just the matter of time now.
However, the doctor has promised that he will try his best that Jorg has as less pain and less uncomforted as possible. and that we should pray that Jorg will not suffer for too long. But as you know Jorg, in Jorg's mind, he is still trying to fight this battle of the sickness, so none of us ever told him anything except that he does not have to worry about any matters, but just rest for now to get better.
Jorg is truly a hero, as Kevin, his youngest son, told him yesterday.
"Daddy, you are our hero, Daddy." he is still fighting hard now to recover, to live for his 3 children; although his body does not follow his mind. I could not agree more of what Jorg's son said; he has been a real hero in many ways. He is a real hero friend, who we will never
forget, even when he is no longer with us.
And on behalf of Jorg, Jorg's family and friends, we would like to thank you all once again for all the supports and contributions you have given to Jorg. Your contribution did help Jorg to have a chance to fight the cancer, and most of all, you all have helped Jorg to live his last stage of life the best that he deserves.

An Appeal to Friends of Jorg
A Letter from Jorg's Personal Friends
We would like to thank you for your kindness as to care of Jorg as always. We have to inform you honestly regarding Jorg’s condition. Jorg has diagnosed of Pancreatic Cancer, that it has spread to many parts of the organs liked liver, intestine and lung. Without any treatment, he could pass away within 6 months.
After he left the hospital, the oncologists have planned the treatments of both Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy for Jorg, as for out patient. The first course would be that Jorg receives Radiotherapy every day, 5 days a week for the total of 5 weeks: whereas one chemotherapy treatment will be combined on each week. The medical expenses for this Cancer treatment should be around 500.000 baht. After that, Jorg can go back to Phuket to continue his chemotherapy in Phuket, in order that he can live with his wife and children again. However, the oncologists did mention that Jorg should receive the treatments of Chemotherapy continuously. The medical expenses of these treatments would be definitely a great burden for Jorg, as he will have to pay around 500,000 baht for this 5 weeks treatment, and 60,000 baht per each Chemotherapy he receives each week.
Jorg has got all the supports of TCC Land Leisure to take care of his full payment during his 8 days in the hospital. We all feel that we should be able to help easing Jorgs’ burden on his serious sickness as well: at least, we should be able to help for his medical expenses.
